WNY Caregiver Connections Group & Respite Information
If you're on Facebook, we invite you to join our WNY Caregivers Connections group. This group serves as a resource for connecting with child care providers, community habilitation workers, and respite staff. Families can post advertisements to find service providers, while providers can showcase their services and availability to families seeking reliable support and care.
What’s respite?
Many families receive funding for respite services through the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). If you are hired for a respite position, you will be required to complete a drug screening and background check. Additionally, you will receive paid training, paid time off, mileage reimbursement, and other benefits. The first step would be to connect with a family to determine if they will be paying you out of pocket or through OPWDD.
If you have a child with a disability and are interested in learning more about OPWDD, please reach out to the intake department at Person Centered Services, Prime Care, or Parent Network of WNY to learn more.
